Below is information on the most common modifications most people do (or want to do) on their car to
improve its performance. There is also some explanation (in question and answer format) for WHY these modifications will work and what
to look for when upgrading.
Air Intake
Your
stock air box should be the first thing that goes. Honda makes pretty good engines but they just do not have the torque required
for a quick street start. An after market intake will give you an extra boost.
Exhaust
Most
of the time your stock exhaust just will not do it. The performance exhaust will help reclaim some of the lost power from tiny
stock exhausts.
Headers
The
header is part of your exhaust system and is basically piping from your engine to your catalytic
converter. Your stock header is usually cast iron with a heat shield around it.
Suspension
The
stock suspension on most cars are made to please the masses. Usually they are "tuned" for the most smooth and comfortable
ride. The smooth ride you feel usually comes with loose steering and the feeling that the car is drifting at high speeds.
Underdrive Pulleys
The
pulleys in your car basically are used to run different things from the engine. There are various belts attached to the pulleys to drive
things like pumps, fans, and other accessories.
Performance Tires
This
section talks a bit about why performance tires are better than normal tires. There is also information on
how to decipher the tire codes on the side of the tire. This will help you choose the correct tire size
for your car.
